Self-care and wellbeing for a dignified life and permanence in the territories.

List item 1

The implementation of «Self-care and well-being for a dignified life and permanence in the territories» arose from the evidence that most of the communities affected by dams have been victims of the armed conflict and are also re-victimized by the imposition of energy projects in their territory.

Based on this situation, the proposal was designed for the Colombian Living Rivers Movement, to which the Setaa Communities are articulated, seeking to share tools that would help in the prevention and attention to health problems, generating reflections that would lead to personal transformation and seeking to create capacities to be shared in the local processes that are articulated to the National Movement. One of the purposes is to transform oneself from the personal in search of wellbeing in order to promote collective transformations.

Technical characteristics of the proposal

Both of these technologies are alternative medical practices that have been shown to improve the overall health and well-being of both the giver and the recipient. These are practices where it is recognized that human beings are energetic channels (prepared) that allow pranic energy (from the universe) to reach the places of the body where it is required and harmonize it; for this, essential oils of plants and flowers, syntergetic filters (each filter contains information for each place of the body) and the hands are used.

Productive, community, environmental, or economic processes or activities that were positively impacted by the implementation of the community experience of TEJ.

This experience is linked to the well-being of each person, and for this reason it is understood that from a complex perspective, it addresses the different aspects in which each person develops, i.e., the way in which he/she assumes or relates to his/her productive processes or economic activities, his/her participation in the organizational process, among others.

Beneficiaries of the experience

1. It became evident that each person, with his or her own energy, has the capacity to generate autonomy in health, realizing that the exercises taught allowed immediate improvement in the person’s condition. As an example, in the self-care and wellness meetings, exercises to remove pain were taught and, in some of them, the people who had pains, practicing the exercises removed them.

2. Motivated processes to improve the health conditions of its members in physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects. After the process that began, activities and methodologies learned in some of the meeting spaces have continued to be motivated.

3. Reflections were made that allowed for the transformation of ways of relating to oneself and to others. In this case we can name, for example, that there have been histories of violence between the same communities and since the process began, relations between the same communities have improved.

There are not enough economic resources to give continuity to the process, since it is necessary to continue generating meeting spaces for training.

Women’s participation in the TEJ community experience

The proposal has been led by a partner in the process, who has considered that the personal is political and in this sense, it is necessary to be in constant transformation to achieve the objectives, which is in correlation with the objectives or personal purposes of generating dignified living conditions.
