- Changing patterns of use and consumption

Through the production of reused cloth bags, we were able to reach people who want to make a change in their lifestyle, through small daily actions such as reducing the use of plastic in market bags.
This initiative was positively received, since in addition to reducing the use of plastic, it provides an opportunity to re-incorporate textile materials that were discarded into the production cycle.
Technical characteristics of the proposal
Flat machine, reused fabric (mainly jeans), tetrapack, creative hands.
Productive, community, environmental, or economic processes or activities that were positively impacted by the implementation of the community experience of TEJ.
Women’s Solidarity Economy.
Beneficiaries of the experience
3 families composed of 4 women and 1 man 3 young people (between 13 and 18 years of age)
Achievements and problems encountered during implementation
ACHIEVEMENTS:
- Visibilization of the organizational process
- Strengthening and vindication as women in society.
- Reincorporation of textile materials into the production cycle.
- Handicrafts made from reused fabrics to encourage responsible consumption and environmental awareness.
PROBLEMS:
- Families have not been able to maintain their livelihoods through these activities.
- Difficulty to actively participate associated with transportation costs.
- There is no technical support.
- Minimal economic resources, which prevents the acquisition of better work equipment (machines).
Women’s participation in the TEJ community experience
The women’s participation was evident from the beginning, since they are in charge of the organization’s operation, as well as keeping the accounts and seeking alternatives to the problems that arise both within the organization and the community.
