- Integration of different energy uses
The pilot was under construction at the time of its participation in 2020, the delivery was planned along with a training in renewable energies to the community so that there is an internalization of the project and the capacity to maintain and repair the equipment in case of failures is generated. By then, the design phase was completed and construction was progressing.
Currently, ice is purchased in Bogotá and stored there, which means that energy must be expended in travel. They pay $1000/kg in 15kg blocks, which means that they sell in Situ at less than half that price, to guarantee operating costs.
Technical characteristics of the proposal
Coupling of photovoltaic panels, batteries, freezer and frost ice maker.
Productive, community, environmental, or economic processes or activities that were positively impacted by the implementation of the community experience of TEJ.
The experience aims to promote the local production of ice, in which productive processes, biodigesters, popular research and eco-neighborhoods are related. The project aims to promote the consolidation and development of a sustainable local economic ecosystem, based on the valorization of renewable energies.
Beneficiaries of the experience
20 families composed of 20 men,
20 women, 20 adolescents (13 to 18 years old), 40 boys and girls (0 to 12 years old)
Achievements and problems encountered during implementation
ACHIEVEMENTS:
- Strengthening of the popular economy through fishing.
- Community management for the installation of technologies that contribute to a common purpose.
- Technical training of villagers in alternative energies
PROBLEMS:
- The possibility that a technology that requires so much energy to start up can be generated from a process that is not as efficient as that generated by the panels.
- The cost of the equipment, delivery times and import procedures.
- The reliability of the different brands and the water and electricity supply quality needs.
- The location of the technology due to safety and security issues and the installation of the facility, once it is built and put into operation.
Women’s participation in the TEJ community experience
Women would be in charge of assisting in the administration and management of the experience.
Impact of the community experience of TEJ on public policy
The project was carried out with the support of the Governor’s Office of Vichada and the Mayor’s Office of Puerto Carreño. It is being promoted by the French embassy and several universities participating in the COLIFRI association (Colombian-French Association of Researchers).
This has allowed us to participate in different meetings held in Latin America and to take our proposal to other academic and even industrial spaces.
